WHO IS THIS PROGRAM FOR?
Serious Beginners
Are you new to sculpture? Build a strong foundation in classical sculpture, from understanding form and proportion to modelling the human face and figure.
Visual Artists
Are you a painter or 2D artist? Explore form in three dimensions through clay, deepen your understanding of volume, anatomy and proportion, and bring that knowledge back into your drawings and paintings.
Sculptors
Are you already sculpting but struggling to achieve the results you want? Master the foundations of classical sculpture to improve your accuracy, refine your technique, and create more convincing, lifelike figurative sculptures.
Why Students Are Excited About Sculpting...
Faye
Melanie is very informative, knowledgeable, and kind. Learning to see is very valuable- my painting of figures has improved and I am more confident. I am now interested in a whole new world of art!
Marnie
You learn and have fun at the same time. You leave the class wanting more - and most importantly, with the confidence that YOU TOO can sculpt.
Megan
I find that I am looking at everything with fresh eyes. I will be able to apply this to my drawing and painting, and will also be able to look at and appreciate sculpture in a different way.
Meet Your Instructor
Hi there, I'm Melanie Furtado. I've been sculpting for over a decade and have helped hundreds of people learn traditional sculpture.
Mastering the foundations of figure sculpture is the best way to develop the skills you need to express your creative ideas in 3D.
I created this Atelier program to help you create sculptures you love, and avoid the struggles of going it alone.
The sculptors' journey is better when shared. I look forward to seeing you in the atelier!
