Session 1: FIGURe Fundamentals

May 11-15, 2020 (5 days)
Monday-Friday 10:30 am - 4:30pm

Learn the fundamentals of sculpting the human figure in clay. We will focus on understanding basic anatomy and how to simplify the body into units to create a strong gesture.

We will be doing various exercises to train our eye and improve our understanding, and creating several small figure gesture studies from live models. All materials and armatures are provided.

Suitable for beginning sculptors or those looking to improve their figure fundamentals. Ideal preparation for Session 2.


Session 2: figure Life Model

May 18-22, 2020 (5 days)
Monday-Friday 10:30 am - 4:30pm

Learn to sculpt the human figure in clay from a live model. We will create one sculpture during the entire 5 days. Our focus will be on studying the gesture, forms and basic anatomy that will help you create a life-like figure.

We will learn how to hollow our figure sculpture in preparation for kiln firing (firing not included in course). You will leave with a completed figure study. All materials and armatures are provided for use during the workshop.

Previous sculpting experience recommended, beginners must also register for Session 1.


LOCATION: Victoria, BC, Canada

This sculpture workshop takes place in the charming town of Victoria, BC on Vancouver Island on the West Coast of Canada.
